• How do I request a copy of my DBS certificate?

This article covers how you can request a copy of your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate. 

WHAT DO I NEED?

GUIDANCE:

As DBS certificates are handled by DBS directly, Verifile cannot provide you with a copy of your certificate.

This does not mean that you cannot obtain this, however.

When completing our online Background Screening form for a Basic UK Criminal Record, you can select whether you would like to receive a copy of the certificate to your current address, and also whether you would like Verifile and the Organisation requesting your checks to see this too. By default, you will only receive login details from the DBS to access your online profile and electronic certificate.

 

Standard or Enhanced Criminal Record checks will not have this option—this is because a certificate will be sent to your current address by default.
 If you have not received your certificate after 14 days of the printing date, you will need to contact DBS directly. 

Please note, that they will only be able to provide a reprint within 3 months of your certificate's issue date.

Those with a Basic Disclosure Certificate can contact the DBS service on 0300 0200 190 or request a reprint through their DBS online account, however a reprint will not be provided if a paper copy of your certificate was not requested on the online Background Screening form.

If you have completed a Standard or Enhanced DBS, you will need to complete a reprint form (DBS certificate reprint guide and forms - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)) and send it to DBSReprints@dbs.gov.uk.

If you have moved address since your application was submitted you will need to set up mail redirection with the Royal Mail before requesting a DBS certificate reprint. The address provided on your application cannot be changed.
