GUIDANCE:

Here are some of the main user rights outlined by the GDPR:

 

  • The right to be informed - You have the right to know how your data is collected, used and for how long it will be kept.

 

  • The right of access - You can ask what information has been collected about you.

 

  • The right to rectification - You can ask for your data to be corrected if there is a mistake.

 

  • The right to erasure - You can have your data deleted from records.

 

  • The right to restrict processing - You have the right to restrict data processing by the data controller under certain circumstances outlined by the ICO (Information Commissioner's office)  - Right to restrict processing | ICO.

 

  • The right to data portability - You can request your information from the data controller to use it for your own purpose through different services.

 

  • The right to object - Data subjects have the right to object to the processing of their personal data in certain circumstances. For example, for marketing, scientific and historical research, or to perform a task in the public interest. - Right to object | ICO.

 

  • Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling. - Individuals have the right to demand human intervention, rather than having important decisions made by algorithms. Companies are required to inform people they will be subject to algorithmic decision-making and let them know they can opt out of it.
