WHAT’S COVERED IN THIS ARTICLE?

This article provides clarity on what employers do with the arrest information on the final report.

WHAT DO I NEED?

N/A.

GUIDANCE:

Depending on the type of DBS check (Basic, Standard, Enhanced) the information that employers receive on the final report can vary.

These checks find out whether the employee has had any convictions or if they can work with vulnerable people or children.

An arrest does not mean it is a conviction or caution and they will not disclose it on a Standard DBS check report.

However, the arrest information can be disclosed on an Enhanced DBS check, if the police consider it relevant to disclose this information.

It is employers' choice whether to employ you if the arrest information is available on a DBS report, as candidates cannot take certain roles whilst having a criminal record and vice versa.

Some companies employ candidates with criminal records.

We suggest you speak to your employer as they are the main organisation in charge of your recruitment process.

RECAP:

The candidate knows it depends on the employer what decision they make if there is any arrest information revealed in the background screening process.
