The main reason employers do a criminal history check is to establish whether they hire a trustworthy individual or whether the candidate is a potential threat to the business.

Criminal background screening helps businesses mitigate risks, protect their assets, avoid additional costs, and ensure a safe environment at workplace.

Not that individuals with a criminal history cannot find employment or are untrustworthy upon rehabilitation or reparation. Any employment offer is up to the prospective employer and not Verifile, we simply report the facts as presented to us.

It’s crucial that any criminal record checks carried out by employers are proportionate and relevant to the role in question, and comply with the Police Act 1997 and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974.
